Earth Day Celebration (22nd April 2022)

" The Earth does not belong to us,we belong to Earth". This statement was said by Chief Seattle in his famous speech in his native Duwamish to his tribal assembly in the year 1854. The statement, spoken so many years ago, is still so relevant, especially in todays time. Simple, yet it speaks volumes about our relationship with Mother Earth. To remind each one us of our relationship with Mother Earth ...Earth Day is celebrated every year on 22nd April. This year marks the 52nd year of this celebration and this year’s theme of Earth Day Celebration is - INVEST IN OUR PLANET. This day is also celebrated in order to raise awareness among the people all across the globe about the necessity of protecting Mother Earth. This event has become perhaps one of the most celebrated events of the world. The celebration of this event also becomes extremely significant because our planet is slowly recuperating from the effects of the Corona Virus Pandemic that had hit us very badly in the year 2020. Its high time now we realised and reminded ourselves that each one of us has the responsibility to protect our planet otherwise we as well as our future generations might have to face similar pandemic situation in the days to come. This gentle reminder of accepting of our responsibility towards Mother Earth, was creatively put up by the team of our young Josephites in the form of a small morning assembly. The Students also focused on the fact that just as we take care of our home, our parents, our belongings, similarly it is also our duty to take care of Mother Earth because this planet is our home and where one stays , one must take good care of that place. Therefore not only on Earth Day but on every single day we all should play an active role for the well being of Mother Earth. The students also highlighted on some of the simplest ways in which one can contribute towards the protection of this beautiful planet. By - 1) Planting more trees & encouraging afforestation. 2) Recycling things that can be reused 3) Stop using of plastics and objects made of plastics. 4) Creating awareness in family, locality , neighborhood about the importance of protecting Earth. The main highlight of this beautiful assembly was the planting of the “sapling” by our respected Principal Sr. Anupama. This assembly was a small initiative taken by our teachers and students of classes IX and X to pay homage to Mother Earth. Wishing each and everyone a Happy Earth's Day !
